long exposure portfolio
wavy glow
The stories behind certain photographs are best kept to myself. What happened to make this photo may or may not have been particularly exciting, but I appreciated experimenting with long exposure in this moment. It started as a "throw away" shot where nothing would probably come from it, but I figured I'd try something new. I was amazed how the image turned out, and I particularly love the deep black background around the colorful waves!
a forest
To be honest, I don't remember too much about taking this photo. I found it going through my old computer. What I like about it is the waviness of the trees and greenery. It took me a bit to remember this is a double exposure done in-camera! You can make out some leaves on top of the tree in the foreground. This is a fun example of combining my two main interests: long exposure and nature.
lit eagle
This has to be my luckiest photo! I was watching fireworks at the Ring of Fire on Conesus Lake and tried catching the streak of fireworks. A couple days later I noticed this picture and thought it was a dud since it didn't have the classic firework streak. Then I noticed what looked like feathers...a head with a beak...and maybe even talons! Given the holiday, I decided it's an eagle and I don't care what anyone thinks about that.

Playing with lights and long exposure is so much fun! It allows you to create a sense of movement even if the lights are stationary. I love the brightness on the left and right sides with the narrow glow in the middle implying flow from one side to another.
